Prof. Martin K. Patel

Prof. Martin K. Patel has been holding the Chair for Energy Efficiency since September 2013, at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. His research deals with energy savings and emission reduction in industry, the built environment and at the interface between energy supply and energy demand (most notably including energy storage). Together with his group he performs environmental and economic assessments of technologies, processes, products and services as well as evaluations of policy programmes. Next to energy efficiency, bio-based products represent a particular focal area of research.
Martin Patel has been member of several large research consortia (e.g., the Swiss Competence Centers for Energy Research) and associations (e.g. eceee). He is currently leading the consortium SWEET-DeCarbCH on decarbonisation of cooling and heating in Switzerland while being involved in some other national and international research programmes. He is also vice-director of the Institute of Environmental Science at University of Geneva.
